Doho International is an involuntary group associate with the Seifu Gakusha.
It was founded 30 years ago by three of us: Toshiyuki Tanaka (who is now in Brazil), the late Yoko Muronoi (a Butoh dancer), and Kazuhiro Sunami. We were fellow students at the Shintai Kyoiku Kenkyusho (which we simply call “Keikojo”). Each of us had envisioned transnational activities facilitated by Doho. Using each other as hubs, our interactions continued on a small scale. After Ms. Muronoi passed away, Tsunehisa Watanabe—whose activities in Europe had increased over the past decade joined the group, and we became the reborn Doho International.
